Preferred:
Experience with University HR policies and procedures.
Human Resource experience in a clinical and/or research environment.
Duties/Responsibilities
Part of the Surgery / Orthopaedic Surgery / Urology / Otolaryngology (Surgical) Administrative Center's HR team, coordinating HR functions, including recruitment and advising on employee relations, and interpreting policies and procedures.
Recruitment and Employment - 40%:
Includes coordinating all hiring functions including but not limited to Professional and Academic, Civil Service, Bargaining Unit, Grad Student and Student Employment and Temporary classifications; oversee renewals and nonrewnals process; advise on compensation issues.
Advising, Employee Relations - 20%:
Includes advising on employee relations, coaching, and performance issues; advises on and prepares salary in-range, equity and retention adjustment requests employees; manages and advises on reclassifications and/or job evaluation questionaires.
HR Project Management - 20%:
Includes ongoing initiatives to research and develop improvements to internal orientation programs; oversees performance management process, including probationary and annual reviews; HIPAA/Data Security coordinator and liaison with the Privacy Office to assure training assignment and compliance; initiate and oversee implementation of ImageNow scanning project/program for HR/Payroll; participate in and/or lead independent center or Med School-driven initiatives in Human Resources as assigned.
Oversight of academic Promotion and Tenure - 10%:
Includes assisting department leads on the faculty review process; meeting with faculty and support staff and advising them on requirements for P&T; attending training sessions given by the Office of Faculty Affairs; act as a liaison to the Office of Faculty Affairs and communicate all P&T changes to department leads; assisting department leads on the P&T process including faculty votes; reviewing the final dossiers before they are formally submitted.
Reporting and Communications - 5%:
Includes collecting and maintaining data for annual and probationary reviews; collecting data for production of reports for monitoring HR systems and activities; provide conclusions, recommendations and summaries; develop and maintain database of HIPAA/Data Security Training compliance; disseminate information and development opportunities to employees; clarify policies and provide materials about COBRA to terminating employees.
Participation on HR Management Teams - 5%:
Includes actively participating in the planning and implementation of HR unit goals by identifying needs, researching options and recommending actions; participate in professional meetings and seminars; provide backup and assistance to team members.

The Surgical Administrative Center Human Resources provides expert advice, information and timely customer service based on individual and departmental needs in order to further the mission of the University and the departments we servce. We aim to provide strategic solutions focused on performance management, compensation, recruiting and staffing.
