Under general supervision, performs housekeeping functions and cleaning duties using a variety of equipment and following established policies and procedures.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITI! ES :
1. Supports the mission of the hospital through personal conduct including demonstrated concern for the people of all ages served and co-workers, contribution of ideas and suggestions, helpfulness and friendliness, regular attendance and punctuality, and adherence to hospital rules, policies and general expectations.
Inspects and cleans patient rooms, performing general cleaning duties; such as, picking up and emptying trash, wiping tables, counters, and mirrors, straightening furniture, etc. to promote a clean environment.
Dusts and wet mops floors and baseboards daily to maintain a clean environment.
Cleans all office areas, emptying and disposing of trash to maintain cleanliness of area.
Cleans restrooms on a daily basis using disinfectants and chemicals as necessary to promote infection control.
Cleans carpets by vacuuming and spot cleaning daily to maintain a clean environment.
Buffs floors weekly using! a buffing machine to promote a pleasant floor appearance.
Cleans units upon patient discharge to promote infection control.
Cleans and disinfects the operating and birthing rooms using appropriate gowning and cleaning procedures to provide infection control.
Replenishes supplies in housekeeping, supply rooms, janitor’s closets, housekeeping carts, and bathrooms to maintain adequate supplies for cleaning staff.
Washes windows as needed to promote a pleasant appearance.
Collects trash from all areas and disposed of to maintain clean environment.
Performs deeps cleaning duties in the fall and spring including shampooing carpets, stripping and waxing floors, cleaning blinds, washing walls, etc. for on going plant maintenance.
Follows “Body Substance†infection control procedures in the performance of daily tasks.
This position requires the passing of the KEYS physical assessment upon hire and upon coming back from 3 or more weeks of FMLA leave or from any kind ! of surgery.

COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP :
No requirement. May voluntarily or upon request, serve on hospital committees.
PREVIOUS EDUCATION AND TRAINING :
Required : High school diploma or GED

HAZARD EXPOSURE :
Potential exposure to chemicals used in cleaning. See Material Safety Data Sheets for information.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
Medium Duty is: exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally or 10 to 15 pounds of force frequently or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects (based on U.S. Department of Labor data). The following physical activities are required to perform this job:
Occasionally (up to 33% of work time): standing, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, kneeling, crouching, smelling, color vis! ion.
Frequently (34-66% of work time): walking, carryin! g, stooping, reaching, handling, fingering, talking, hearing, near acuity vision.
DRESS REQUIREMENTS :
Uniform required, purchased by employee. No blue jeans or sports clothing. Hospital provided name badge to be worn at all times. Leather shoes to be worn.
