Position Description
This highly visible role will define the strategic position of Medt! ronic's critically important surgical stented valve portfolio and develop and execute global competitive strategies within the heart valves marketing team.
The stented portfolio consists of Hancock II, the proven gold standard stented valve for over 25 years and Mosaic, the only true 3rd generation stented valve.
Through collaboration with key stakeholders, this role will create shared vision of the Surgical Stented Valve position within the organization.
Working closely with the marketing team and other relevant functions (marketing communication, sales, R&D, clinical and education) the Sr. Marketing Manager, Stented Heart Valves will lead the development & implementation of business plans for the heart valve franchise, focusing on Hancock II and Mosaic and covering both short and longer term business goals.
This role will execute strategic direction and ensure consistency of positioning by leveraging the sales organization, key opinion leaders and other ch! annels to communicate the Stented Heart Valve position in the ! global market place and identify new and existing opportunities for the portfolio that reflect the changing needs of the surgical valve landscape.
Position Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Establish global strategic direction for competitive strategies and implements marketing strategies with the marketing team, creating new competitive space or reshaping existing space in the market place for Stented Heart Valves but aligned with objectives. Provide input to the R&D team on next generation product/clinical needs assessments.
Define customer requirements for new or iterative products for the Stented Heart Valves portfolio using proven tactics for gaining “voice of the customer†requirements from the global market.
Lead the Stented Heart Valves Instruments portfolio management for specific products and therapies.
Work closely with R&D to provide direction to development efforts for product improvements and longer-term new product! and technology development.
Participates on core team for new products.
Work closely with clinical to evaluate Post market studies, registries and data collection opportunities to support clinical adoption of products.
Collaborates with Business Development on acquisitions.
Has frequent internal company and external contacts; provides input to management of vendors.
Works with R&D and Surgical Based Therapies marketing to define 5 year product strategy and road maps.
Product Management:
Refine marketing strategies developed during upstream market assessment and drive segmentation, targeting, positioning strategies and development of final promotions, pricing, product and distribution plans, sales/revenue forecasts, analysis of distribution/channel issues, and inventory management.
Works with sustaining engineers to ensure quality of Stented Heart Valves products and quickly rallies necessary departments to respond to quality issu! es.
Acts as a key interface with global demand planning and supply ! chain to manage supply/demand forecasting needs.
Monitors competitive moves as they relate to Stented Heart Valves and develops a cohesive response that can be used to deter competitive threats.
Manage projects and budgets associated with products in area of responsibility. Drive implementation of programs in partnership with local marketing and sales management.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
10+ years experience in a Marketing, Sales or Engineering role (8 years with Master’s Degree) with at least 6 years experience in Product Marketing.
Experience developing and implementing strategic direction for competitive strategies
Product development and product launch experience
Project management experience
Experience interfacing and presenting to all levels of the organization including external customers.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel and Word)
Desired/Preferred Qualifications
MBA!
12+ years experience in a Marketing, Sales or Engineering role with at least 8 years experience in Product Marketing.
Previous Medtronic experience
Working knowledge of perfusion or cardiac surgery products, clinical data and business plans for Structural Heart franchise and competitive products
Medical device industry
Experience selling medical device products
Previous experience with the health care system and selling to economic buyers
