LAB -OFFICE Highly complex CAP certified hospital laboratory with a unique mix of full-time, part-time, casual staff that provide accurate, timely lab results 24/7 for ER, surgery, in-patients, clinics, physician offices, and out-patients. Our services include Hematology, Chemistry, Transfusion Medicine, Microbiology, Anatomic Pathology, Flow Cytometry, Immunology, and Cytology.

Work Hours/Schedule(For Example: 7:00am-3:30pmor Every other weekend) Various start times: noon-2030, 1430-2300, 1500-2330, every 3rd weekend nights 2300-0700
Primary Function & Major Responsibilities Responsible for the accurate and timely performance of routine and complex laboratory procedures.Performs and evaluates diagnostic testing to provide accurate and reliable laboratory results.Compassionate Service - Placing the needs of those we serve above our own; treating individuals with dignity, respect and empathy.Treats abnormal results according to policies and procedures.Performs computer and clerical functions accurately to ensure accurate test ordering and reporting of patient results.Performs and documents maintenance and troubleshooting procedures on laboratory instrumentation to ensure proper operation.Reviews, follows and understands established laboratory quality assurance and quali! ty control procedures.Performs specimen collection and processing to ensure the accurate and appropriate performance of patient testing while maintaining patient dignity, comfort and confidentiality.Complies with laboratory Safety and Infection Control policies to ensure a safe work environment.Participates in the overall operations of the section(s) and department.Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of the job.Performs all other related duties as requested.
Qualifications
Education:
Baccalaureate degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or HEW accreditation, or an appropriate Biological, Chemical, or Physical Sciences degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience. ASCP or NCA eligible.Clinical Laboratory Technicians are also eligible to appy.
Experience:
No experience required.Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Comprehensive knowledge of routine and complex laboratory procedures, techniques, and inst! ruments;Ability to perform work requiring manual dexterity;Excellent in! terpersonal skills;Good communication skills;Good organizational skills;Ability to work independently;Ability to assess, identify, and address the special needs of patients appropriate to their age;Ability to stand for majority of working shift.Regular/Temporary
