Responsibilities
- New employee in orientation up to one year after completion of 14 week initial orientation schedule.
- Instrument Specialist cleans, assembles, inspects and sterilizes all instruments and supplies following hospital and department policies and procedures
- Duties are performed in accordance with guidelines from the FDA, State Department of Health, OSHA, AAMI and the Manufacturer to ensure that our patients receive exceptional care
Education
- High School Graduate
- Completion of Instrument Specialist/Central Supply program, and/or Surgical Technician, and/or CS Certification
- Will consider recent experience in Sterile Processing/Central Service, and/or related education.
Qualification/Skills
Skills
- Excellent communication skills including telephone triage, basic computer skills, reading, writing, and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of sterile technique, sterile processing techniques, and surgical instruments
Licensure/Certifications
- Preferred Central Service/Instrument Specialist Certification and/or Surgical Technician Certification. Required IAHCSMM within 1 year of hire date.
- Preferred 6 mon ths to 1 year of recent experience in Sterile Processing/Central Service, and/or related education
Work Schedule
Casual; no scheduled shifts
D/E/N - Opportunity to work variety of shifts.
