The Clinic Office Nurse assures patient appointments are scheduled; maintains an efficient flow of patients; completes patient referral forms; schedules lab work, tests, procedures and surgeries and notifies pre-authorization and hospital of applicable cases; obtains chief complaint from patients; identifies changes or high risk situations in patient’s condition and takes appropriate actions; prepares patients for exams and assists with procedures and tests; administers medications; demonstrates knowledge of location, set-up and use of equipment; provides appropriate education and documents response; takes accurate and complete phone messages for the provider; obtains medical records for providers’ offices; documents in the chart all authorized medical refills and the instructions giv! en; completes all charting and documentation; notifies Supervi! sor or Manager of any potential problems; demonstrates the ability to adjust own schedule; completes charges; assists other offices; notifies Manager when provider will be out of the office and completes housekeeping tasks. Patients cared for include infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatric. KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED : Required: • Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. • Licensed by the Minnesota Board of Nursing. • Successful completion of the functional assessment. Preferred: • One (1) to two (2) years clinical nursing experience, preferably in a clinic setting.
