Job Objective/Purpose: The PM&R physician at the Gillette Lifetime Clinic would join t! wo full-time and four part-time physiatrists seeing adult patients (16 years and older) with childhood-onset neurological and neuromuscular conditions. The patient population is heterogeneous, the majority with a diagnosis of cerebal palsy, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy, or genetic syndrome and a minority with sequelae of traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, or central nervous system tumor. The Lifetime Clinic has an experienced onsite team that includes medical (adult general medicine; orthopedics/spine; neurology, neurosurgery; palliative medicine; psychiatry; urology) and non-medical disciplines (physical, occupational, & speech therapy; prosthetics & orthotics; seating; therapeutic recreation; social work; psychology) to support a broad spectrum of care in a highly collaborative work environment. There is an opportunity to do MSK ultrasound or EMG if interested. Botox injections and other procedures can be done with nitrous oxide sedation administered by a res! piratory therapist. Daytime and overnight inpatient coverage i! s shared by the full-time physiatrists for primary management of intrathecal baclofen pumps and associated complications, care following ITB pump implantation surgery, and general PM&R consultation.
Qualifications The physical medicine and rehabilitation physician must be board certified or board eligible in physical medicine and rehabilitation and be a member of the medical staff of Gillette Children's Specialty Healthcare with credentials in physical medicine and rehabilitation. Because of the clinical emphasis on spasticity and movement disorder management, Botox and intrathecal baclofen pump experience is desirable. Similarly, experience with non-surgical urology, including urodynamic studies, is desirable and supported.
