THE ROLE
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Regional Inventory Controller to join our Procurement team based in either our Hobart or Adelaide offices. As a Inventory Controller Specialist you will be responsible for optimising the levels of inventory kept on site, and will work with Purchasing, Maintenance and Operations teams to control the flow of materials onto and off site. In this role you will actively work with the Warehouse Coordinator and site teams to maximise
communication, minimise waste of stock and spend, control satellite stores and maintain SAP data
integrity.
Key Duties and Accountabilities:
- Develop and implement inventory management systems and processes to ensure optimized inventory levels and efficient material availability.
- Review and manage SAP settings for materials in inventory, such as minimum and maximum settings, to maintain appropriate stock levels.
- Proactively engage with stakeholders, such as Operations and Maintenance teams, to understand their requirements and ensure timely return of materials not used on jobs to prevent unnecessary orders.
- Manage slow-moving, obsolete, and surplus inventory to minimize waste and reduce storage costs.
- Coordinate and oversee the stocktake process to ensure accurate inventory records and reconcile any discrepancies.
- Act as a gatekeeper to ensure only relevant items are brought into inventory and that naming conventions, stock levels, and other inventory parameters are appropriate.
- Identify opportunities for vendor held inventory, vendor managed inventory, and consignment stock, and work with procurement to implement these initiatives.
- Support the site's Kanban initiatives and ensure rigor is applied to the management of all items held in Kanban arrangements.
- Monitor consumption volumes to ensure appropriate inventory levels are maintained and adjust inventory levels accordingly.
- Collaborate with asset management to identify and deal with obsolete materials when new equipment is built/installed.
- Assist in major stop work to ensure unused materials are properly returned and prevent unnecessary orders.
- Reduce satellite stores by ensuring stock levels are correct and stakeholders understand how to access goods they require in a timely manner.
- Implement best practices in inventory management and ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
- Provide regular reports on inventory status and performance to management and stakeholders.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and actively seek out opportunities to improve processes and systems
To be successful in this position you need to have:
- Experience in a similar role/industry for a minimum of 4 years
- Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate discipline, i.e. Commercial, Supply Chain or Technical.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong Microsoft Office skills & SAP capabilities an advantage.
