Must be proficient in written and spoken English DUTIES:
Incumbent will work as a .5 Surgery Planner and .5 performing direct patient care. Some ! of the duties of this position are:
- Incumben! t will be able to set up or reprocess Reusable Medical Equipment (RME) as applicable and be certified annually on the specific equipment for which they are responsible.
- Must be proficient and demonstrate competency and the ability to either set up or reprocess Reusable Medical Equipment as applicable for all equipment for which you have been trained.
- Demonstrates flexibility, critical decision-making, and collaborative skills necessary to coordinate surgery schedule.
- Coordinates master surgery schedule on a daily basis.
- Allocates surgery dates/number of rooms based on the block scheduling
- Evaluates requests for surgery to ensure realistic numbers/length of surgical procedures to coordinate allocation of time and space by service.
- Indicates all patients with potential need for implants/prosthesis prior to day of surgery and ensures that correct implants and instrumentation are obtained.
- Able to transcribe surgery! requests in the event of computer downtime.
- Screens surgical procedures against existing clinical privileges.
- Inputs data into Vista Surgical Software Package.
- Demonstrates flexibility with cross coverage needs for other SSC clinic areas when necessary.
- Demonstrates technical/operational knowledge and clinical skills to function in Intake, PACU, and the OR.
- Maintains current ACLS and BLS certifications.

Full unrestricted Licensure, Certification, or Registration required
Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The National League for Nursing! Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing! Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing.
The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that
qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of
study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for
the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005,

Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
Proficient in spoken and written English.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
1. Graduate of Bachel! or's Degree program required. Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program by eith erNLNAC or CCNE or by a program approved by the State at the time of graduation.
2. ACLS/BLS requirement.
Preferred Experience:
1. Scrub experience preferred.
2. 3 years current clinical experience in peri-operative nursing.
GRADE DETERMINATIONS:
Experience as a RN will be evaluated to determine if the experience is of an acceptable level of quality with regard to the following four dimensions of nursing: Practice, Professional Development, Collaboration and Scientific Inquiry. Each dimension of practice has criteria that demonstrate essential core competencies for VHA Nursing Personnel.
