The Development Engineer I performs technical and project-related tasks as part of a project team, and is responsible for creation and innovation which leads to the development of new products/processes. The Engineer may be responsible for: a) supporting product/process development projects, product/process introduction, production troubleshooting, or individual measurement and analysis projects; b) performing measurements, creating engineering designs, developing plans and keeping laboratory notebooks on all projects; c) functioning as a member of cross functional teams; and d) preparing time and cost estimates for projects and managing projects of smaller scope.

Designs parts of prototype systems for new products/processes. Performs engineering measurements and analysis. Records work in laboratory notebook. Provides written re! ports and engineering documentation as necessary. Writes engineering test protocols for testing of component parts and integrated systems. Contributes to engineering schedules and plans. Contributes to the completion of projects and goals. Instructs technical support staff on engineering test and build requirements. Contributes to cost and time estimates for engineering schedules. Supervises and assigns laboratory technician tasks and projects as required. Provides cost and activity accounting period reports as necessary. Assures compliance with company Standard Operating Procedures and policies. Participates in team decision making. Develops team problem solving and communication skills. Develops solutions to problems and identifies and proposes alternatives, when appropriate. Demonstrates skill in the use and care of all tools and equipment. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices and all other applicable standards. Maintains a clean, safe! , and orderly work area. Follows all safety procedures. Stays informed ! about applicable new rules, regulations, and standards.

Basic level of knowledge within area of specialty is required. Must have the ability to apply basic principles, theories, and concepts.
Knowledge of engineering laboratory procedures. Has strong knowledge of appropriate design-related and business-related software, tools, etc. Ability to carry out engineering calculations and analysis. Ability to write engineering documents, test protocols, laboratory notebook entries and reports. Ability to perform component engineering designs and changes. Ability to operate light machine tools and laboratory instruments, such as band saws, drill presses, oscilloscopes, etc. Ability to interpret displayed results on laboratory instruments. Effective oral and written communication skills. Collaborates well with team members and functional area representatives. EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or related field. EXPERIENCE:
Recent graduate! with related 0-2 years experience required.
