The Registered Nurse (RN) functions under the supervision/leadersh! ip of the nurse manager or an Administrative Supervisor. The RN assumes accountability for the delivery of direct and indirect patient-centered nursing care for the patients assigned to the RN for a specified period of time. Following a competency based formal orientation, competent performance is expected. The RN must understand and use the nursing process. Must be able to critically think and be self directed to manage patient care. Must be able to collaborate and negotiate with team members. Must be able to patient (and/or families) teach to all age levels. Must be able to communicate effectively to health care providers, families, and patients and other involved providers, i.e. law enforcement, EMS, Crisis intervention team members, other healthcare workers. Must have strong customer services skills and be adept with communication to collaborate with patients/families/visitors and other departments/facilities.

The RN functions within the scope and standards of ! nursing practice as outlined in the Minnesota Nurse Practice A! ct and Hospital Policies and Procedures.

The RN is responsible to the supervisor and delegation of duties to assistive personnel. When students are providing patient care, treatment, and/or services as part of their training, the RN is accountable for supervision of student provided care

Required Skills

Graduate accredited nursing program is strongly preferred. Graduate from an approved nursing program is acceptable. Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred.

Must be a licensed RN in the State of Minnesota. CPR/BLS is required

Required certifications on hire or within 6 months of hire:
Emergency Department: ACLS, TNCC, PALS

Critical Care: ACLS, TNCC, PALS

Surgery: ACLS, PALS

Women’s Center: PALS, NRP, ACLS-optional

Medical-Surgical: PALS, ACLS-optional
