JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for rendering technical skilled care to patients during operative proc! edures under the direction of the registered nurse; preparing for surgical procedures; cleaning and turning over instruments, equipment and rooms for surgery; assists in evaluating the patient plan of care within the operating room environment, contributes to overall unit efficiency, safety, workflow and utilization; performing other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High school graduate or equivalent. Graduation from an accredited school of Surgical Technology

Education: N/A
Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of surgical technologist work experience.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: CST (Certified Surgical Technologist).

Ability to work harmoniously with professional and technical staff and Physic! ians. To communicate verbally and listen to the needs of the p! atient, the Surgeon, and professional staff within the operating room. Ability to plan, organize and remain attentive throughout surgical procedures; ability to work with and learn to operate technical equipment; to work under stress/pressure; to maintain accurate records/reports; to participate in orientation of new personnel and teaching of students; to see, hear, stand, sit, walk, bend, talk in English. Able to take call as required by patient care and staffing needs. Maintains confidentiality.
READING - Intermediate: Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
WRITING - Intermediate: Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, or procedures.
SPEAKING - Intermediate: Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group situations or before groups of customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SK! ILLS - Basic Skills: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY - Intermediate Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
AGE SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES - Skilled at assessment and knowledgeable of growth and development. Provides appropriate care respective to the ages of the patients served per clinical environment.
