Job Summary
We seek an Acute Account Manager with experience in selling generic and bra! nd pharmaceuticals into hospitals and surgery centers. The Acc! ount Manager is responsible for managing a territory of key accounts and will be accountable for the sales productivity and profitability of the territory. The Account Manager must possess an understanding of selling to doctors and pharmacists in hospitals and surgery centers, GPO contracting and compliance initiatives, and performing effective sales strategies to increase Akorn product sales while achieving corporate objectives. The Account Manager is responsible for achieving sales plans, maintaining injectable and ophthalmic market and product knowledge, and performing account coverage responsibilities. Must have experience within field sales.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Achieve sales and unit volume forecasts
  • Manage budgets and expenses for Territory
  • Report weekly goals and results to Regional Sales Director
  • Manage key physician and account relationships within their territories
  • Manage detailed customer records and reporting with in CRM system
  • Communicate with other team members
  • Report on activities and changes in marketplace
  • Represent Akorn ethically and professionally
Preferred Candidate Background and Expertise

Bachelor’s degree required, an MBA or post-graduate work would be a plus. Past experience in a major generic injectable pharmaceutical company or in an ophthalmic company competing in the same markets as Akorn. Strong sales and persuasion skills, business acumen, organizational and analytical skills are required. Must be willing to travel.
